Moving to Production
This note describes the process of moving code into a live site.
The process of moving code to production is intended
to minimize the risk of damaging the production site.
It is the responsibility of the Site Administrator to
ensure that adequate testing is performed in the staging
area before moving code to production. The process
follows the steps below.
- Once it has been tested successfully, the staging site is remounted read-only, to avoid accidents.
- The filestorage for the production site is backed up on the filesystem.
- A Core Developer works from the staging log to update production. The Core Developer performs tests on the production site.
- The catalog on the production site is refreshed.
- The production site storage is packed.
