Easy Blogs are fairly straightforward to use and require no technical knowledge. A lot of organising work is done automatically.

Adding Entries

  1. To add an entry click "new Entry"
  2. This is  in top right under blog manager. (However on the top right you may see a portlet like "Review List" in top right. If this is the case scroll down the page. Blog manager will be under this portlet Review list
  3.  You can then edit the entry like any other page.
      • There are two edit screens. The first is for what displays on the main blog. This is like the introduction.
      • The second screen is for the rest of the blog. Readers will see this when they click on "more"
      • After writing your entry choose a category (e.g. you will see "general" at bottom left) - you can also add more categories later

    2.  Publish Entry by changing state from Private to published ( also called"free for all")

      • Initially your entry is saved in your drafts folder.
      • On publishing it is made visible to the public and added automatically to your archives folder.

    3.  it is advisable to add different categories. Our categories include: "Plone" and "Easy Blog"

  • On top right you will see blog manager. Click on add category. Choose a name and then save.
  • Try to make categories clear and try to avoid having too many. These categories should reflect the main themes of your blog.

Adding Images

  1. Images can be added in the same way. However you will want to add the images in an images folder and not in the blog folder.

Editing Blog Settings

  1. Firstly you can set your preferences as to Title, description and whether to show byline, author. You may like to choose a short url like /blog
  2. editing comments. If you edit blog and then click on comments. You can decide whether to allow comments on blogs. You can also  moderate all comments before allowing them to be added to your blog. (this helps to stop any spam)
  3. If you want a longer blog with more entries. Go to entries and change the number in "Maximal Entries" - The higher the number the more blog entries.
the other field "maxmal last entries" sets the numbers set in the right portlet of your blog. It is probably best to keep it to 5.
  4. If you edit blog and click on notifications you can specify your email adress so you are notified of any new comments. This is useful if you don't check your blog everyday.
  5.  Trackbacks. A Trackback is basically "When someone links to one of my posts, my post links back to them" Trackbacks are useful for following comments between blogs. However they can lead to spam. However if you feel this is occuring you can delete the trackback
